Apuseni Lodge
We have found the perfect place for our year-round lodge at a high standard in Avram Iancu in the municipality of Vârfurile, Arad district. Avram Iancu is first mentioned in 1390. In addition to Avram Iancu, the municipality of Vârfurile includes the villages of Groşi, Lazuri, Măgulicea, Mermeşti, Poiana and Vidra. The number of inhabitants of the municipality of Vârfurile is currently given as 2,715, which corresponds to a population density of 20 inhabitants per km².
Vârfurile is located at the foot of the Codru Moma Mountains on the Crișul Alb River, 128 km from the district capital Arad. Despite its secluded location in the middle of the hilly foothills of the Apuseni Mountains, Avram Iancu is well connected in terms of infrastructure to the nearby small towns of Vașcău and Ștei with their shops, the large market and even a hospital. Oradea, the county capital of the neighboring district of Bihor, is just 120 km away.
The Apuseni Mountains, from which our lodge takes its name, reach peaks of up to 1800 meters. It forms the northern section of the western Romanian Carpathians.
How to find us
The journey usually takes place via Vienna. Drive via Györ past Budapest and Szolnok (Hungary) via the border crossing at Borș to Oradea (Romania) and further via Beiuș, Ștei and Vașcău on the DN76/E76 to Vârfurile. At the roundabout there, turn onto the DN79A and follow the signs "APUSENI LODGE Romania". Link to the route via Vianna
If you possibly want to avoid long waiting times at the border crossing to Romania and drive a more varied route, then you drive to Kecskemét and choose the route via Vărșand to enter Romania. Link to the route Vienna - Vărșand
The inexpensive passenger and vehicle journey from Prague (Czech Republic) to Košice (Slovakia) by train is also worth considering. The fastest connections between the Czech Republic and Slovakia ensure the 'SC Pendolino' train. If you want to relax completely on the trip, choose a night train with lounger and sleep compartments and let your motorcycle ride on the loading bridge. From Košice to us to Avram Iancu you have to drive almost 400 km.
If you are coming from northern Germany, the best way to get to Romania is via the Czech Republic and Slovakia. We are happy to give you individual route recommendations.
Our Lodges
... are located on an idyllic hill with a view of the mountains in the middle of nature with good connections to shops and gas stations. The access road is newly created and asphalted. Our accommodation is superior and there is plenty of flat space for 4x4 drivers with roof top tents or RVs. Our lodges are open all year round. Living close to nature in winter with a warm shower and heating has a special charm that off-road vehicle drivers especially love! We attach great importance to comfortable accommodation and sustainability. This is particularly reflected in the wooden construction of our houses, the furnishing with ecologically produced products, the networking with local suppliers and the involvement of the local population in our activities. We set up our premises with a lot of passion, always with the aim of offering you an unforgettable stay in this wonderful environment. So that everything is prepared in such a way that it meets our and our guests' requirements, we need a little more time. From 2024 we will be ready for you and look forward to your visit with us!

Well, the country has made tremendous efforts to improve its security infrastructure in recent years. The government has invested in modern technology to monitor borders and increase security. In addition, Romania has a strong and stable economy that allows the country to strengthen and modernize its security forces. Romania has been a member of NATO since 2004 and also became a member of the European Union in 2007. This means that travelers in Romania can enjoy a high level of security.
